Perisher is looking better and better and they have a new team member on the park crew… Nitro rider Darragh Walsh has joined Adam and his team maintaining the parks. Adam tells me that they have just put in an 18m”S” box and a 26m “Big Dipper” rail at the bottom of Slopestyle. He said, “It’s been a while since we had the Big Dipper out there, in fact a lot of our riders will have probably never seen it but the old timers will remember. It was our first feature rail and at the time we only had a few old home made rails, then we put this thing in. It was first put in at Leichardt when that was pretty much our only park and it took up nearly half the length of our entire jib line. I’m not exactly sure but I think it was 2000 when it first went in, and I got it from a reliable source that Jamie Allan was the first to get it to the end. I remember guys spent ages hiking back up after each try to get it, so it’ll be interesting to see how much the talent of today has improved and if it takes our riders of this generation as long to get it dialed.” Darragh emailed me the shots above and said he was stoked to be part of the crew – he is stoked to be working outside again and getting input in the design of the parks. Check a few shots of the set up above!
