Shop-Eat-Surf is reporting that Australian retailers, along with some in the US, are defying trends and making small increases in sales. The article says “The latest rounds of retail spending and consumer sentiment reports show slight upticks in the U.S. and Australia.” It goes on to say that most economists are saying it is unlikely that this is the end of the recession. However, I think that the timing of the governments handouts fits perfectly with the new season snow gear hitting stores at the moment. I can see a lot of $900 cheques being handed over for boards, boots and outerwear – and isn’t it good to know that by spending on new gear, you’re actually performing a patriotic duty! I love Australia! Check the artcle brief here.
