Torah Bright HP Commercial
This is actually a week and bit old but it’s still news… Torah Bright has joined several athletes and musicians in HP commercials. Her’s are to promote the new printers from the company – something to do with being able to print from anywhere. I’d be interested to know how effective these endorsements actually are because I don’t think I’ve seen any pros rocking anything other than Apple products in a long time. I know Apple doesn’t do printers …

Cardrona Park Report
It’s hard to convey just how much the terrain parks have come to mean to the mountains in New Zealand. Over the last decade, they have gone from a couple of boxes to what we see today – huge jump lines, a massive array of features and dedicated express lifts. Tony Curulli and the team at Cardona run this park like an amazing (and fun) military operation keeping the park in pristine condition and taking a huge amount of pride in the fact that …

Winter Olympics Ignores Snowboarders
Melissa Larsen has written an article over at ESPN on the FIS decision to effectively ignore the recommendations from the Joint Task Force looking at the Winter Olympics snowboard qualification issues. The FIS is great at running ski events but has had a more troubled time running the snowboard events. The main issues revolve around the crammed contest schedule in the year lead up to the Winter Olympics (for the 2014 Sochi, Russia games …

This Looks Like AMAZING Fun…
This hold no relevance to anything except that it looks like an incredible amount of fun… The guy that made this video has done other rad ones, particularly the huge bike jump one, but he basically seems to be paid to construct and film epic shit. It makes me excited for summer.

Rusty’s Winter 2012 Launch Party
Rusty held a bit of a party for the launch of their Winter 2012 range. The launch kicked off with a Single Fin surf comp on Rusty’s Bali Single Model with teams made up of staff and retailers battling it out. Following this the guys hit the Ocean One bar… According to the release, “bar tabs were smashed, humans got weird and we all went home single, well some of us, yewwwwwww!” Sounds like the guys had fun – peep some photos from the night above.

Diaries Downunder 2011 – Episode 3
Here’s the latest episode from the good guys at Diaries Downunder. This was the day before the guys hit up the Burton NZ Open. Pretty awesome – enjoy!

2011 Stylewars Mega Gallery
Stylewars went down while I was away last week and it’s taken a few days to get everything together but here’s a mega gallery of shots from three days of competition and partying. I know you will all already know but the Jye Kearney won both railmaster and best rider awards netting AU$6,500 and a bunch of prizes. Best trick went to Cees Wille for a nollie hardway back 180 to switch 50/50 cab 180 out on the down bar. Check the gallery above for all the action from the comp!

2011 Street League Championship Highlights Clip
Here’s a highlight clip from last weekends Street League Championship in Newark, NJ. As mentioned back here, the day went to Sean Malto who was a late inclusion after Tommy Sandoval had to pull out due to injury. You can see why Malto took the win in the clip below – consistent and great style. A few new photos from the weekend in the gallery above too.

Hurricane’s won’t stop the Quiksilver Pro
It wasn’t just rumours. Until yesterday, the possibility of the Quiksilver Pro New York being cancelled was very much on the cards. How will Kelly go from huge Chopes to shifty city beachbreaks? If this clip is anything to go by, he’ll be fine.

The best surf contest ever?
It’s a big call, but many who’ve been around pro surfing for decades are claiming the Billabong Pro was – if not the best – then certainly the most memorable contest in a decade. Here’s the video highlights.

Sean Malto Takes 2011 Street League Championship
Sean Malto has put a stop to Nyjah Huston’s Street League winning streak over the weekend taking out the 2011 Championship in Newark, NJ. The comp had to shift times to accommodate a little wind and rain being experienced on the east coast at the moment and Malto was a late inclusion into the field after Tommy Sandoval pulled out due to injury. All things came together for the Kansas City kid who skated consistently …

2011 Winter Games Halfpipe Finals Gallery
Here’s a better gallery from the Winter Games Halfpipe finals last Sunday… Better than my iPhone shots anyway. Janne Korpi’s winning 93.0 point run included a backside rodeo alley-oop 540 nose grab, back 900 mute grab, frontside 1080 tail, cab 1080 nose finishing with a stalefish. Pretty damn impressive. I’ll have some video from the comp in the next day or so but in the mean time, check the photos above!

The 2011 Winter Games have just finished on a high note with the half pipe finals happening in the 22 foot pipe at Cardrona. 2011 New Zealand Winter Games Big Air Results
Cardrona hosted the snowboard big air today in pretty amazing conditions. The win was up a little towards the end of the comp but the sun was out and the skies were blue. It was held on a 90 foot (TBC) jump that was in full view of the village giving a large crowd a great view of the action. The day was won by Maxence …

Park Report From The Remarkables
Apologies for the lack of updates over the last few days. I’m in New Zealand covering the Winter Games (more posts on that to come very soon) and it’s been hectic. Today I went up to check out The Remarkables to have a chat with their park crew, check out what they’re doing and look at a few other innovations going on up there.

Billabong Reports On Difficult Year With Bright Spots
Billabong has dropped its full year financial report and it’s got some expected and some not so expected results in there. The way everyone has been talking, you’d think every clothing brand in the world was about to pack up the sewing machines and call it a day but BBG raised their total revenue by 23.8% to $1.68 billion… Nothing Io sneeze at. It’s been a tough year and the strengthening Australian dollar is having an effect… But Australian’s also contributed just over half a …
