The 2011 Stylewars is ready to kick off on August 22nd at Falls Creek. The weather has been causing issues with some significant rain fall particularly in the last few days however they have been pushing snow together for a few weeks now so there will be some kind of park for the comp and the reports for next week are looking clear, sunny and wind-less. Rip Curl’s Throwdown event went down at Thredbo the other night and we’ve got a few photos for you to check out above. It’s a combined ski/snowboard comp but the important info is that after the two hour jam session Ryan Tiene came out just ahead of Charles Beckinsale in the peer voted comp. Check the shots.

Here’s the latest episode from the guys at BawBaw’Din. This one features Thom Neale, Mark Catsburg, Alex Scott, Jackson Allan and more doing their usual thing up on Baw Baw. Check it out!

The hot spell in early August that hit the Aussie resorts wrecked havoc on parks that were in great shape so a complete rebuild was needed. So we have gone back to the drawing board and ironed out a few little kinks and now have new layouts that we are stoked on.

The 2011 Burton NZO finished yesterday with Ryo Aono winning over Louie Vito and IPod (Iouri Podladtchikov) in the halfpipe. Aono went out hard early with his first run consisting of a Frontside 1080 which lead into a Cab 1080, Frontside 900, Backside 900 and Frontside 1080 Double Cork. Mark McMorris took the win in slopestyle over Seb Toots (Sebastien Toutant) and Stale Sandbech. While in the womens, Jamie Anderson won in slope …

It’s day two and three of the 2011 Burton NZO has happened with halfpipe qualifiers happening yesterday and the semi’s for the slopestyle happening this morning. There’s a tonne of photos from the last few days along with a quick update on the results so far…

Part of the SoO Airtime competition this year is the Open Air contest – its an open photo and video comp where you could win snowboard gear from Ride, cash, time at TSC, and more. All you need to do is submit a short film or photo taken somewhere in the Australian snowfields. There are both peer poll and judged categories – head over here for more details.

The second teaser for Burton’s 2011 film, Standing Sideways, came out yesterday and is 5:32 minutes of some pretty huge stuff. Definitely looks like it’s going to be a good flick – featuring all the usual Burton suspects like Jeremy Jones, Danny Davis, Turbo, Mikkel Bang, Jussi, Sollors, Valeika and more. Check it out!

It was shot over the last 12 months across Czech Republic, Austria, Whistler, Nelson, Big White, Falls Creek, Mt Baw Baw and Mt. Buller. The Burton New Zealand Open started this morning with the Slopestyle Pre Qualifiers going down in near perfect conditions. According to the release (below), “A field of 56 men and 25 women battled it out for just 10 and 5 spots, respectively, to join invited riders in the semi-finals, which will take place on Thursday, August 11th.” Tim Humphreys, Tyler Flanagan and Stale Sandbech were the top three and will progress. The flood of teasers continue with the latest from Standard Films including Ryan Tiene.

I’ve posted a few snow teasers recently but I’ve just received this one from the good guys at 3CS Outerwear and it is mind-blowingly good. From the Euro crew at Mog Productions, the film is called ‘The Reality’ and features two of the 3CS Austrian crew – Tom Tramnitz and Bobby Dangl. Seriously, if you’re taking the time to watch anything today, make it this. It’s amazing.

Here’s another teaser for the morning – this one is for a film called Vacay from 8 Mile and features Andrew Geeves, Dustin Craven,  Devun Walsh, Eero Niemela, and more. It’s a little more rough than some of the others but it looks like it’ll be entertaining.

Here’s a rad clip from BHK (tip of the hat to Mitch in the Shoutbox). Called ‘Super Mega Phun Tyme’ according to the blurb, it features Jordy, Pauli, Rocco, Jed, Harly, Rich, Katie, Jacob and Troy Sturrock. Nice track they picked for it too.

I got sent this teaser for a film called Stitched Up Clipped Up filmed in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Quebec, and Ontario. The film features Luke Haddock, Yale Cousino, Riley Nickerson, Hans Mindnich and more – most of whom I haven’t heard of but if the skill in the teaser is anything to go by, we’re likely to hear about in the future. Check it out!

The teaser for Familia 2 has been released. Created by the FODT guys, the film features Lucas Magoon, Dylan Thompson, Marc Frank Montoya, Andrew Brewer, Jake Devine, Johnnie Paxson, Derek Dennison, Jonah Owen, and more. Shot in Montreal, Estonia and Japan, this thing looks pretty amazing. Check it out.

I caught this via the Angry Snowboarders twitter… Homemade Productions have released the teaser for thier film Lock It. They’re a production company out of Quebec, Canada and the film features Tim Bouvette, Vincent Desrochers, Bern Sauvageau, Frank Bourgeois, David Gauthier and more. The lines look great, the filming is good and the sound track is great.
