Windells session three happened the other week and it was all the usual raddness you expect from these guys. Seriously, if I knew I was going to this when I was younger, I would have spontaneously combusted before I got there… Now that I’m older, my reaction wouldn’t be much different. The IOC today announced that men’s and women’s slopestyle will be included in the 2014 Sochi Games.

Burton have announced some details for their 2011 Cattlemans Rail Jam. It’s happening on Saturday July 16th at Mt Buller with 16 invited riders. It’s the sixth year the competition has run and, despite some challenging weather each year, it is always a highlight of the season. The guys are throwing down for a share in $7,000 prize money. I’ll post more details as they become available.

The 2011 Dew Hut Jam is booked in at Buller for Saturday July 30th. The TTR-3 Star event has got $19,000 in prize money to give away and there is 15 teams of two competing for a piece of it. Each team of two is representing a brand (one of their sponsors) and first prize takes out $12,000. This is the third year the unique event has run and it is creating more and more buzz – I know the scramble to lock down riders for the teams is happening earlier …

The Docklands in Melbourne are getting their own indoor snow park with real snow on the ground. Ed Richards went for a shred up at Thredbo with his buddies, Louis Macindoe, Michael Miakishev, Tom Pelley, Steven Toga, Jye Kearney, Ant Haddrick and Tom Reilly. The weather and conditions look a little rough but the features were out and the guys were having a good time. Check it out!

The guys at Perisher dropped me a quick email with an update and a few photos on the park up there. They have a 40 foot step down jump, a pole jam rail, 12 meter battle ship box (up-flat-down) and a 9 meter ‘S’ rail. On the way is a couple of kink rails and a 6 meter stair set. Check the shots.

The film features Forest Bailey, Wyatt Stasinos, Shayne Pospisil, Timmy Ronan, Cody Rosenthal, Doran Laybourn, Jonas Michilot, Robbie Walker, Alex Stathis, Brendan Keenan, Nick Russell, Mason Aguirre, Jake Koia, Benny Urban and more. Just for those in the east that didn’t feel it yesterday – it’s got cold. Damn cold. We’ve had some pretty awesome snow fall over the last 24 hours on the mountains with Perisher getting 50 centimeters, Thredbo getting 30 centimeters, Hotham getting 29 centimeters – basically everyone is getting dumped on and the weather reports see this continuing (a little bit lighter) for the next couple of days. Thredbo posted a few photos on the facebook of what’s happening up there. Crazy! Great to see so much snow falling – reports are saying the guys have had up to 30cm in the last 24 hours. Check out a few photos above!

Vivo Headwear sent out an announcement this morning that Devun Walsh had joined the team at both a riding and business level. Walsh is a co-owner of the company and will be team manager. Vivo founder, Anthony Leffelaar said, “We are very excited to be working closely with Devun Walsh in all aspects of Vivo Headwear.  Devun is by far a legend and icon in snowboarding to say the least.” That’s about all the detail there is at the moment, but I’ll post it when there’s more.

Burton and Analog have signed up Queenslander Daniel Harry Crean to the team. 22 year old Crean is currently living in Jindabyne – look forward to seeing more of his this season!

Signal Snowboards released a new Every Third Thursday last week and this time the guys hit up an indoor slope in Holland. The board look painful to ride but the design looks good. Check it out!

I’ve been testing out a few snow report apps recently looking for something simple and functional to get a quick reading on the snow conditions at the Australian mountains. There’s a couple of okay ones out there but I’m actually really impressed by the Aussie Snow Report app – I should note that this was created by a friend of mine as a side project but he has gone to some pretty amazing lengths to get accurate reports. Mt Buller are doing half price tickets for opening weekend. That makes it $52 for adults and only $28 for children aged through to Year 12! Pretty damn awesome. Apparently there’s 38 runs open at the moment and the cams are looking good. For more, hit the release here.

Erin McNaught got to spend some time shredding in Japan over the last winter for MTV’s Japan Jam – but she’s no beginner. A couple of season at Mt. Baker and a fearless attitude has left her, in the words of Mitch Tomlinson, “like a female action figure doll.” She doesn’t just snowboard well, she is super passionate about it too. And was apparently not afraid of the throttle when they went sledding either.
