Maybe skateboarding is genetic? Maybe Reily Hawk just works his ass off to be this good… Either way, the new clip for Lakai is definitely worth a watch. Hawk worked with his friend Jacob Nunez to create this old school VX style piece. Pretty damn rad.

I caught this amazing clip on Boardistan – Called ‘Holy Cow’ the ten minute clip was directed, filmed and edited by Patrik Wallner. It is a month long skate trip through South Asia featuring Walker Ryan, Laurence Keefe, Michael Mackrodt and Kenny Reed. Grab a coffee and settle in for 10 minutes of epic, inspiring footage.

Next weekend sees the first brackets in Battle at the Berrics 5 happen! As mentioned back here – this year it is team Koston versus team Berra and the opening round is the first step in deciding each team champion. This battle will be Shane O’Neill head to head with Ryan Decenzo for Berra, while PJ Ladd takes on Manny Santiago for Koston. The first (I think) clip around Battle at the Berrics 5 has gone up and this year it’s Team Koston versus Team Berra. Each of the guys gets to select their dream team with the champ from each team going into the final. Australian Shane O’Neil is second off the mark for Berra who’s team also includes Mike Mo, Chris Cole and Nyjah. Koston went with P-Rod, Morgan Smith, Davis Torgerson and Ishod Wair. Who do you think has got it?

Element held a party at Ambush Gallery in Waterloo last Friday night to celebrate Bjorn Johnston turning pro. They previewed his full video part and had a few drinks. More Hawk news… Here’s a video part release on the YouTube Ride Channel which Hawk has some involvement in. At 43 years of age, he is still killing it. Footage was shot recently in California, Sweden and China. The guy is amazing.

A skater in Wagga Wagga has died after falling while being towed by a car. The teen fell heavily and hit his head, the driver of the car is now up on manslaughter charges. Thoughts are with the families up there but I’d like to take this opportunity to mention that if you’re not Michael J Fox, getting towed is not a good idea. I swear I’ve read this story half a dozen times in the last six months. Check the full story over here.

The blurry shots that are there seem to indicate that they might be re-making an awesome poster they had in the early 90’s featuring the original team.
