DC have unveiled their new logo last week. The flag design was a huge change for the brand and anyone who’s seen footage from Street League last weekend can see how well this is going to work for them – the crowd was filled with crew waiving the flag! In addition, Mikey Taylor has been signed to the team. Check a few photos of Mikey at Street League above and the launch commercial for the new logo below!

Here’s a quick clip of Torey Pudwill running things at the Seattle press conference after Street League last weekend. He’s pretty damn good on the mic and gets some interesting answers from the crew. Check it out!
Huf have been doing rad things in footwear for a little while now and they have just released their summer 2011 look book which was shot by Dennis McGrath. Check out the new hottness above!
Travis Rice is working hard on the final few shoot for his next release, Art Of Flight. Recently, the crew hit a closed section of Aspen to fire up Brain Farms absolutely awesome arsenal where they had plans to get some bangers from the likes of Scotty Lago, Danny Davis, Jack Mitrani and Luke Mitrani. Apparently there’s a 90 foot kicker they’re going to be hitting – I’d love to be there for it! More on that …
Rip Curl announced they had purchased the 19 store Victorian chain, Ozmosis. This is the second major retail acquisition for Rip Curl and follows a big industry push into retail over the last few years led by Billabong who has purchased major chains world wide over the last year and a bit. I’m not sure how long this trend can last but I would suggest to any small to medium size chain stores – now is the time to sell up. I don’t see this kind of battle over floor space lasting …
2010 series winner Nyjah Huston had quite a pay day on the weekend taking both the win at the Street League Seattle event as well as the best trick award netting a total of US$165 thousand for the days work. He managed the highest single trick score in the series history with a backside 270 nose bluntslide on the big section rail. Shane O’Neill came in second followed by Chaz Ortiz and Sheckler – the domination by these guys throughout the …
I got a surprise this morning when I hit up The Berrics… Steve Berra had an announcement up saying “If the Alien Workshop can be owned by a snowboard company, there shouldn’t be any hiccups in our transition into the more popular, more respected, more hot chicks, more everything Olympian sport of snowboarding.” I’ll let you find out what it’s all about by heading over here.

The new female crew are surfing at a level way beyond girls just a few years older than them. Most of ‘em are whip smart and look great in their bikinis. Yet despite some great sponsorship opportunities (and Nike 6.0’s forthcoming movie), they’re still being overlooked.
At the Nike Snowboarding launch last week, we worked with Amie Frances to recreate the gothic/horror table setting from the Danny Kass commercial (which you can see here). Amie did an INCREDIBLE job – the table looked amazing. As people entered into the top room at the venue, they could jump in for a photo from Steve Gourlay… So rad. All the photos were posted to Facebook during the night but for anyone who missed seeing them, I thought I’d …

A few weeks back, Dragon had their Indonesian and New Zealand advertising shoot with Oney Anwar and Rangi Ormond. The guys shot a quick clip of what happened – I can’t wait to see what the final shots look like… I’m not sure what effect that kind of work with the flash will have. The photos were taken by Todd Glaser and the clip was put together by Nicholas Damen. Check it out!

The French owners of brands like Puma, YSL and Gucci look set to buy Volcom in a deal worth US$607.5 million. PPR have offered US$24.50 per share for 100% of the company – the deal has been unanimously recommended to shareholders by the Volcom board. The deal values founder and CEO Richard Woolcott’s piece of the company at over US$60 million – not bad at all! There is more information due this afternoon but the press release announcing the merger is below the cut.
A few weeks ago the annual Grenade games was held at Bear Mtn, California. They have put together this rad little clip of the festivities featuring our very own Mr Tom Pelley shredding in the park. And what would a few park laps be without Mr Pelley performing a few of his signature tame dogs….

The Torquay Pub was packed to the rafters last night, quite litterally at times with the general plebs inside, and the Rip Curl Pro closing party outside. Almost a party-off, everyone was wondering who was at the better party.
