Movie news site CHUD is reporting that Spike Jonze’s new (and eagerly awaited by me) film, Where The Wild Things Are has not been received well by the suits at Warner Brothers. There is speculation that they could make him re-shoot large parts of the film, which was originally shot here in Australia. When you hire the guy behind movies like Yeah Right! and Adaptation to make your kids movie, and then find out he has made a semi-horror movie along the lines of Labyrinth, you don’t complain. You simply thank him for his genius and tell the bank manager to expect a few dump trucks soon.
UPDATE: You can see some leaked test footage of the film here. Dont get to excited though, Spike had the following to say about it:
“…that was a very early test with the sole purpose of just getting some footage to Ben our vfx (visual effects) supervisor to see if our vfx plan for the faces would work. The clip doesn’t look or feel anything like the movie, the Wild Thing suit is a very early cringy prototype, and the boy is a friend of ours Griffin who we had used in a Yeah Yeah Yeahs video we shot a few weeks before. We love him, but he is not in the actual film… Oh and that is not a wolf suit, its a lamb suit we bought on the internet.”
