My Dad used to know a guy that claimed to have invented the term ‘ground swell’ which always made me laugh. I mean, how can you prove that? Today’s Herald-Sun carries a story about Rob Vassallo who claims that he created and took the idea of a heated wetsuit to Rip Curl, who then developed the H-Bomb. I’m dubious of the validity of these claims for a number of reasons – the main one being that it was an obvious thing for a wetsuit manufacturer to do, how does he know that he was the first and only one thinking about it?
