Slats

Well he’s done it. Kelly Slater has just won his 8th World Championship at the Billabong Pro at Mundaka, Spain (yes Mundaka has a wave again). Although it must be said that tour rookie Bobby Martinez actually won the event. As rad as it is Slater winning, it gets me thinking how he is able to do it? I read he skipped his first round heats in a few contests, opting for a do-or-die situation in round 2 and his worst result so far this year has been a 5th at the Rip Curl Search in Mexico. So I can’t help but think that either Slater is freakishly talented or maybe there isn’t someone good enough to beat him. Skating has Hawk/Sheckler and snowboarding has White. It sucks that it’s so predictable I think. So could everyone just start trying harder please. It will amuse me.
