I spent some time with Tim Nelson in Whistler last season shooting a check out for another magazine. I have a few shots that wern’t good enough so I thought I would share them with you rather then letting them just gather dust in my archive.  I e-mailed Tim some questions to go along with the pictures, click “more” to have a look.

So Tim, how did you get the nick name DJ T-nels?
Haha, I tried to become some what of a DJ, didn’t quite work out.

You spent the summer in Canada, what did you get upto?
Ye, spent last summer in Whistler. Was really fun. Super mellow, sunny days, beers at the lake, fishing, canoeing rivers, wake boarding, drinking?. Got a well paid job building so i could buy a truck to roam round in.

What’s the skill level of snowboarding there compared to Australia?
Well i haven’t been back in Aus for almost 2 years now so im interested to see the Aussie talent. Over here in Whis the skill level is rated very high and the riders have a huge appetite for progression.

Where are you now?
Having a little holiday in Hawaii before i head back to Australia.

What are your plans for this Winter?
Shred the Aus hills and possibly get over to NZ. Oh and work, im pretty broke.

I heard you got a wild card into the Grenade Games, what was that like?
Ye, i got a chance to compete in the qualifiers of the pipe comp in the Grenade Games 5 at Whistler this year. Was super fun, the riding level was amazing to watch. Pipes not really my thing so no huge result, i headed down to the beer garder to drink free beers with Dingo and Jan Snarsky. Was epic!

Thanks for taking some time out from Hawaiing to talk to me!
No problem, look forward to seeing you soon.
