Bond Outerwear Preview

Outer is made from recycled PET bottles.

I dropped into the Sidelife facility on Friday to get a run down on the new Bond gear with Tony Watterson. For those that haven’t heard of Bond, it is the creation of Dan McNamara and Christian Didrichsen who both previously worked for Forum. They announced the label in October last year with their first range to hit stores next season. Bond is marketing as being the first carbon neutral snowboard company and plans on using a ‘top down sustainability model in its operations’. They have definitely taken this mission seriously – they don’t ship their gear in plastic bags, instead sending them out in recyclable shopping bags which are left with retailers for when they sell the Bond gear. The outerwear is made completely from recycled products like PET bottles – right down to the toggles and tighteners. So far they have two pretty big names on the team – Heikki Sorsa and TJ Schneider – but they are taking their team building slowly ‘letting the product talk first’ according to Dan McNamara. So, that’s the intro, check below the cut for a few more shots of the gear and hopefully we’ll all get to see more of Bond in the coming months.
