Mikey Kearney sent me in a handful more photos from the Mt Dew Battle For Supremacy. He said the conditions weren’t great for taking photos. I copied the information from the earlier post into this one. Thanks for sending the photos in Mike, we all appreciate it.
Well according to the poll we’d had running for the last week or so, only 5 of you thought this might happen. The Quiksilver team has won the 2009 Mt Dew Battle For Supremacy at Mt Buller. Yep, Nate Perry and 15 year old Tim Laidlaw took it out! Appartently the event was judged heavily on team effort and Nate and Timmy were consistently landing everything all night. All the information including photos under the cut.
Russ Holt said Laidlaw stomped a huge one foot over the hut whilst Nate threw down a massive 50-50 to backside 180 gap from the roof-top box. Best team trick went to Burton’s Jye Kearney and Tom Pelley. Using Tom’s board as a take-off on the roof of the Dew hut, Jye launched a huge 25-foot backflip out to the landing! Classic Pelley Kearney action! What about the other teams I hear you ask. Well again, according to Russ, the K2 Team were very close to winning best trick with Robbie Walker doing a Fast Plant over the house planting on his teammates (Andy Lloyd) board who was stopped on the apex of the roof! Matt Galina and Gus St Leon of the 3CS Team also threw a crazy team combo where Gus hit the battle ship rail while Matt aired from the gap jump out 20 feet over the rail missing Gus’ head by centimeters and landing on the sketchy side tranny of the hut mound! Sounds nuts! More photos courtesy of Rory Gardiner below. If I get more photos, I’ll be sure to update.
