Words and Photos From Sean Radich:
It was a fun Saturday up at Falls. With a change of venue, time and format, holding the Falls Creek Big Air in the Ruined Castle terrain park (instead of in front of the Frying Pan at night in the Village Bowl) went well. The 50 foot jump was well built and all riders had fun throwing down, and fortunately the weather stayed warm and sunny, if a little windy.
Mikey “The Cat” Rosalky, who rides about 5 days a year, made the trek down from his university in Woollongong (he’s studying Science-Law full-time), blew away the field by stomping the shit out of a Cab 720 and Frontside 720 for his two finals jumps to take a deserved win. That guy just never falls! Jason Currie was runner up to Mikey for the third year now, and rode strongly with a backside 720 and switch backside 540. Fellow terrain park crew member, Jeremy Burns, impressed all with his frontside 720’s to take third place ahead of Cheyne Southwell, who was going a little too big with his 7’s. It was a tiny women’s field, but winner Kim Wiersma spun big and clean to take the win from Jade McJannett.
After a little break, all the crew and locals headed to The Frying Pan Inn for the Dragon Mystery Tour After Party, and the night started to get pumping with the visiting DJ and then MC Surreal hitting the stage. It was an awesome night…from what I can remember of it!
