Surfing ‘Makes it Rain’ on the Gold Coast

Surfing, once the sport of hippies, now shovels $3.3 billion into the Gold Coast economy every year. According to the report on goldcoast.com.au, “surfing is responsible for more than 21,000 jobs or 12.6 per cent of the city’s total employment.” Combined with income from major contests, the companies based in the city and the good waves, it looks like they’ll take on Fat Joe and his pallet of money.
