Tony Hawk stopped by the Wall Street Journal to talk to Conor Dougherty about his new game, The Ride. They talk about everything from the technology of the game to how skaters should approach it… Not expecting to do the actual tricks, because the controller only requires subtle movements to perform tricks in the game. On the tech side of things Hawk said, “This is an idea I had for a long time and never felt like the technology was ready for it, or we could do it on a home console, until I saw the proliferation of wireless controllers, you know, like Guitar Hero and the Wii remotes. And I realized maybe it was time. So about two years ago I brought the idea to Activision and they were super excited about it and off we went.” I’m waiting on a demo of the game to arrive in the office any day now – I’ll let you know what it’s like when I’ve had a try. In the mean time, head over here to check a video of Hawk talking to Dougherty about it all.
