Burton’s Cartel binding has been around for a few years and the guys in Burlington have been improving it year on year. It is one of Burton’s most popular bindings and the 2010 Cartel EST, which is just dropping in Australian stores now, is set to be the same. It is the binding you’ll see the likes of Jeremy Jones, Kevin Pierce and Mason Aguirre riding, so you know it’s got something about it. The Cartel is one of the more versatile bindings and can shred pow, park, pipe and rails.
For those that don’t know, EST is the combined ‘track’ system on the board with the base plate of the binding – Burton uses this instead of the standard baseplate system because they believe it gives the binding the opportunity to flex with the board, it brings your feet closer to the board (therefore increasing the feeling between you and the board) as well as being able to integrate additional cushioning so you can wear a thinner soled boot. The Burton Cartel EST is available now and has a recommended retail price of 399.95.
