This is the list of the invited skaters for The Mountain Dew Battle For Supremacy, in Fed Square, in Melbourne, December 12.Theres $20,000 Prize Purse. It is an invitational contest, which means you have to be invited to skate, and the contest selection is open to skaters from Australia and New Zealand. The course is a street styled obstacle, with a seven stair gap, a ten to twelve stair set, with hubbas, amongst other obstacles in the same vain. Its in the centre of Melbourne, the iconic Federation Square, and is going to be an insane event.
The course design was directed by Shane ONeill with help from Jeff Williams, and will be built by Shane Serena and Pete Robbins who have built most of the Pro street contest courses used in Australia in the past decade. The system of selection is
-by four selectors; Trent Fahey, Andrew Mapstone, Andrew Currie and Barnaby Lawrenson
. Each selector chooses 25 skaters, and ranks them in order from 1-25
. Each skater then receives an amount of points that negatively correlates to the position that they were in with each selector. Example, 1st selection gets 25 points, 2nd selection gets 24 points, 3rd selection gets 23 points, all the way to 25th selection gets 1 point. To shake off any bias, each skaters highest and lowest selection ranking score gets dropped (for example Daniel Gezmer gets 25, 24, 23, 18… his scores of 25 (highest) and 18 (lowest) get dropped and his score is now 47…. yeah Daniel Gezmer!!! The skaters are then ranked according to their score and what you are left with is the gnarliest 20 skaters we could find, skating for the biggest purse on offer for an Aussie and New Zealander only contest… Radical!

NB: The idea of Mountain Dew Battle For Supremacy came to me after spending much time at contests overseas and noticing that Australias standard of skateboarding talent had outgrown its standard of contests in Australia. After the success of last years Battle For Supremacy we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it again, with better obstacles, and at an urban environment. This year the Aussie pros are even better, and we have two great locations in Melbourne and Sydney where we hope to showcase the best skateboarding at least that you will find in the southern hemisphere… maybe even the world! It will be an insane event… two great locations, 20 amazing skaters, $40,000, and an Australasian all star cast!!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!
