Most people are finally back at work this week and the real post-Christmas hangover begins… Yes, it’s another year of work. And yep, that credit card bill is going to hurt come January 20th … On the upside, we have the Winter Olympics coming up, plenty of sun happening and a tonne of amazing pics of Leighton Meester. It’s not all bad!
Air Travel: More scanning or better intelligence? – There’s thousands of articles right now on the right approach to airline security, either greater scanning and, some claim, more invasion of peoples rights. Or better intelligence, profiling (again, an invasion of certain peoples rights) and stopping the would be religious nut jobs before they check in. I’m not that bothered about full-body scanners … it’s a grainy black and white outline image, not something the person checking you through is going to get their sweat on about. What does bother me is the reaction of people and the media; there have been millions of airline passengers between security alerts that have had quite safe travel. One guy slips some explosives in his Y-fronts and the world is in panic. Let’s keep this in perspective.
HUF dropping their own sneakers – Complex has a note up to say that SF’s HUF has its own line of sneakers that will be appearing next spring. The link to the article that had the scoop is now 404-ing so something might be fishy with this one. Waiting for more news.
Consumer Electronics Show & the E Reader – CES is on in the States at the moment and there is a parade of rad gadgets coming out that I will be spending my future money on. However the biggest one seems to be a boom in E Readers similar to Amazon’s Kindle. For those that don’t know, these are tablet like devices made for reading newspapers and books on the go. Some are WiFi/3G equipped, most are simpler than that. I’m hanging out to try a few but I love getting an actual newspaper so I don’t know if it’s going to replace it for me. Hit the link to check out a few.
Don’t Break The Chain for Chrome – How’s your new years resolution coming along? Been to the gym every day? Off the smokes? Cutting back on the drink? Or, like me, successfully doing none of these things. Don’t Break the Chain is an awesome little extension for the Chrome browser that tracks the number of days you successfully complete a task and keeping your resolution on track. Pretty handy!
The 10 Greatest Movie Alter Egos – I am hanging out to see Youth in Revolt (if you haven’t heard of it, peep the trailer here) and Complex has a rad little article on the 10 Greatest Movie Alter Egos. From Butters and Professor Chaos to Stephen Colbert and Esteban Colberto – it’s worth a read.
And Finally – Leighton Meester. Who is she? What does she do? These are questions that will go completely unanswered in the paragraph. Enjoy the pics and have a great week!
