Last week Rick and I got to meet Fran and Clare, two thirds of a team putting together a girls surf film called ‘First Love‘. Making films is hard enough but doing an all girls one is like a niche within a niche. However from the teaser we saw (below) this is something totally different. The shots these guys have combined with the stories and the crew they got to hang with in Hawaii are going to make for an amazing film. It features Nikki van Dijk, Jess Laing and India Payne. I believe it’s due for release in the next few months – we’ll have more details when they’re available. Check the teaser and synopsis below!

Synopsis:

Nikki’s 14 and is sponsored by Rip Curl. With serious power in her turns this pint size ripper is tipped to be the leader of the next generation of female surfers. A charger in the water and a charmer on land, India surfs for Billabong, and has been competing against Nikki since she was 9 years old. While Roxy’s Jess has been taking out titles left right and centre despite battling chronic fatigue for the last 4½ years. And to top it off she’s just been beached for 6-12 months with a shoulder reco.

Join these three as they face the trials and tribulations of training, competition, injury and the everyday hassles of being a teenager on their way to becoming pro surfers. Follow them all the way from the wintery waves of their hometown – Phillip Island and watch them carve up their first waves in the sunset swell of Hawaii.
