Brett Chan Live Art Show Live Blog!

(Update 4:00pm – More footage and photos added!) Today I’ll be hanging out with Renton Millar at The Stoop on the corner of Bourke and William Street in Melbourne to bring you all the happenings from Brett Chan’s live art show. Read on for more photos and check back for updates during the day.

We’re running a few different formats in the footage at the moment to test out the best way to work this bloggie while out and about. The first clip was shot in hi-def but because I’m working on a wireless connection and it’s a little unreliable, I had to compress the file. After I was done, it was a 13mb file and we uploaded it to YouTube. it took a while to go up but you can see the quality isn’t too bad – would be better if I had a solid connection and could have left it at its original quality.

The next clip we shot in the lowest possible settings to see how small we could get the file. This one was 3.1mb – tiny. And was up on YouTube in minutes. You can see that it’s pretty pixelated but that’s what you’d expect when filming at that quality. We’re going to push up a little in the next one and see what it looks like.

For anyone interested in the camera deets… Welcome to my world of limited knowledge and buzz words! Kidding. It films in 1080p, has variable frame rates (60 or 30), takes SD card or Sony memory stick and comes in at around $300. Not bad for a pocket sized device.

It’s all still going on… Renton’s just handed me some more footage. Check it out:

There is more and more art happening here – the wall is getting fuller and we’re getting more footage.

Little more footage happening… Bars just opened so updates might be a little less frequent and a little more sloppy!

Things are kicking off here and I’ve got to bail… Last upload here till tomorrow when I’ll be at the City Squared skate comp in Melbourne. Have a good night.
