It had been a long time coming but the release of Gooch St. had finally arrived and arrive they did. Gooch St, a movie produced by the local skate fraternity appropriately identified as the No Hopes, had been filming for well over 18 months. They captured footage from all over Melbourne and the ever popular mini ramp in the backyard of the first time producer Tony Woodward. The quality and amount of skating footage shown within Gooch St. is a testament to the time and patience shown by these guys to do it right. This resulted in a movie enjoyed by all and more importantly showcased the amazing skating abilities of many of the lesser known local skaters found within Melbourne. The anticipation of the release of this feature meant that there was always going to be a large contingent of the Melbourne skating population turn up. And they did, with close to 200 eager skaters jamming into Mordy’s for the premiere. Every trick and every skater recieved the applause and admiration of their peers and of course everyone shared the pain of Sam Hobleys scorpion landing him appropriately the final section of Gooch St. Gooch St. was a fine first effort from the No Hopes and Tony Wooward (First Time Producer) and showed what fun a group of mates with a couple of skateboards, a camera, a mini ramp and a Sombrero can have.
Thanks to Mordy’s for the use of the venue, Red Bull for the drinks and all the skaters who turned out to make the release of Gooch St. such a success. Gooch St. is available at Mordy’s for $10
