Another top day down here at Bells, attached are the highlights from the day, a few heats are missing from earlier unfortunately – Dragon Party got me last night! But these shots of the final round 1 heats and the Virgin Blue Expression session were pretty rad. I hope you like them.
Day 2 of the Men’s Rip Curl Pro went down today at Bells Beach, completing the last 6 heats of round one in in super tricky, easterly wind conditions.
Occy and Tom Curren battled it out in The Clash of the Icons. Tom Curren carved his way to victory while Occy was unable to find the Bells wall he’s so used to. In the final wave of the heat Occy dropped in on Tom causing a couple of dings, tangles and amusement to the crowd showing the legends are still human.
The Virgin Blue Expression Session was a killer climax for the men’s surfing, with Dusty Payne, Pat Gudauskas, Matt Wilkinson and Stu Kennedy flying fins high illustrating the freakish abilities of these athletes.
Looks like the event will be moved to Johanna Beach for Monday’s Round 2 competition due to forecast small swell and north easterly winds so check the web updates.
