Moving an event is always a mission at the best of times, however 13th Beach provided great waves for Round 2 of the Rip Curl Pro on Tuesday 6th of April.
With an increasing swell pushing through all day it was a welcome relief from the flat spell, which allowed for some pretty epic surfing. Upsets, included Stu Kennedy going down to Bede Durbidge in the first heat, local star Adam Robertson to Bobby Martinez and Adam Melling, who pulled off a ridiculous air just after the buzzer allowing the 2009 WQS Champ, Dan Ross to progress through to round three.
Other highlights included Dane Reynolds, Jordy Smith and Nick Davidson. Davo was ripping the right hand beach break apart, Davo noting the similarity to his home break at North Narrabeen, Alley Rights, which gave him an advantage to unleash on his forehand against a flairing Jay Thompson with the final tight scores of 16.13 to 16.10.
The final heat of the day featured Owen Wright too smooth on his forehand against Ben Dunn finishing round 2, sending the unsuccessful home and the survivors looking forward to Winki Pop on Wednesday.
