Last Friday was the Dew ‘Battle for Supremacy: Rematch’ at the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney. I was so bummed not to make it along – it sounded like the day was pretty epic. Dave Harris took out the win and walked away with a chunk of change for his efforts… After the comp he said, “I was shocked when I found out I’d won. I am so psyched! I’ve never won that much cash in my life! The money is going straight to my piggy bank so I can go to the US and skateboard over there with the Volcom team.” There’s a bunch of photos above and a video below, enjoy!

PRESS RELEASE:
Queensland’s Skateboarder Dave Harris Wins the Dew Battle
Australia’s top street skaters raise the roof at the Hordern
April 9, 2010, Sydney – It was a sunny day in Sydney for Currumbin’s Dave Harris as he came out on top to win the Mountain Dew Battle for Supremacy Sydney event.
Skateboard fans from across Sydney turned out to watch their heroes pull out all the stops as 20 of Australia’s top skateboarders went head-to-head, riding a custom-built street-style course.
Harris awed the judges with his consistent execution of difficult tricks, including a switch frontside nose grind down the hubba, one of the course obstacles. But for Harris it seems the real secret to his success was to have a good time skating.
“I just went out and had fun. I just love this format of contest, just skating with your friends, and having fun.”
“I was shocked when I found out I’d won. I am so psyched! I’ve never won that much cash in my life! The money is going straight to my piggy bank so I can go to the US and skateboard over there with the Volcom team,” said Harris.
Sydneysider Bjorn Johnston came a close second place and was and the overall series winner, following on from his win at the Melbourne Federation Square Dew Battle.
The Dew Battle for Supremacy saw the Hordern Pavilion turned into one giant street course where skaters wowed the crowd by performing tricks, flips and spins. The course set up featured stairs, rails and other obstacles such as a picnic table.
The Dew Battle was developed by professional skateboarder Renton Millar, who is the current World Cup Skateboard Champion. Millar is the godfather of modern Australian skateboarding, and created the event in order to foster development of the sport in his home country.
