In The News Feat. Eva Longoria

A less tech heavy week this week – an epic film worth seeing, the first leak on the new iPhone, suicide art in NYC, Goldman Sachs is in a world of hurt, 10 ways to see restricted sites online and Eva Longoria… Have a great week!

Suicide Art In NYC – This is definitely a pain in the ass for emergency services but British artist Antony Gormleyhas positing 31 bronze statues of people around the city on ledges of tall buildings.

Is This The First Leak On The New iPhone? – A regional Canadian phone company CEO casually dropped into an interview that, come June, they’d be dropping the new iPhone. Based on the announce and release cycle for the iPhone in the past two years, a new release in June would make sense… So all of you out there ending your contract on the iPhone 3G this winter will have something new from Cupertino to swap to.

10 Ways To Access Restricted Websites – A few handy tips for getting around restrictions on sites. Want to check out something on Hulu? What about watching something from the BBC without having to download RealPlayer (yep, people are still using that crap)? Here’s a few handy tips from Lifehacker.

Goldman Sachs Is In For Some Pain – Alan Kohler has written an interesting article on the lawsuit against Goldman Sachs which caused a 13% decline in their share price last week… It’s a good read, especially the part where the SEC found an incriminating email from an employee named Fabrice Tourre which said, in part, “The whole building is about to collapse anytime now… Only potential survivor, the fabulous Fab… standing in the middle of all these complex, highly leveraged, exotic trades he created without necessarily understanding all of the implications of those monstruosities!!!! (sic)” Not something you put in writing dude.

The Fog Of War – If you have an interest in Cold War history, you’ll enjoy this. The Fog Of War is an older film (2003) that I caught last week – it’s sub title is ’11 Lessons from the life of Robert S. McNamara’. He goes through events from his work as a bombing statistician, his time as president of Ford, the Kennedy administration’s triumph during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the failures in Vietnam. Amazing!
