If you’re like me and have been following the start of the 2010 NBA playoffs like crazy, then you’ll be wishing you could play a little NBA Jam again. Well you won’t have to wait much longer. EA Sports have teamed up with the original NBA Jam creator Mark Turmell to bring everything that was rad about the original to a modern console. In fact that’s about the only let down for me, the launch console is set to be the Nintendo Wii. However I can’t see that sticking, afterall, how many people that played NBA Jam now have a Wii? Not many, they’re all playing Xbox or Playstation I would guess.
Not that it matters, by the looks of the recently released game trailer and screen shots, I’ll buy whatever I have to to play this game. 2D animated faces, he’s-on-fire, crazy dunks, hidden characters, legend characters (‘boss’ games against Larry Bird and Magic!) and from what I’ve been able to ascertain from various posts on the internet, the return of the original play-by-play announcer (although it’s not him on the trailer, so maybe not). For more information, check out Joystiq’s preview and be sure to watch the trailer below.
