In The News Feat. Gisele Bündchen

This week, In The News, we have the power of Facebook’s founder, Rolling Stone’s amazing work, the problem with smiley J’s, and Brazillian model, Gisele Bündchen. Have a great week!

Is Facebook’s Founder More Powerful Than Obama? – Recently someone asked the question if Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, was more powerful than the U.S. President. It’s an interesting question – Zuckerberg has the potential to talk to 400 million people directly, vastly more than the number of politically engaged US citizens. Here’s a short answer from Fast Company – make sure you watch the video at the end.

Rolling Stone’s Runaway General – You might have heard that Rolling Stone wrote an article that ended up changing the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan last week… If you haven’t seen the article, here it is. Amazing.

Smiley J’s a Problem – I can’t be the only one confused by the fact that I was all of a sudden receiving a ‘J’ at the end of sentences in emails… Here’s why. According to Lifehacker, “some brilliant engineer thought it wise to correct “:)” as a smiley rendered in a specific font face when composing rich text documents (and/or HTML email). This is why people think you’re crazy for inserting random “J” characters in your emails — they don’t have the same fonts installed on their machine!” There is a work around but now that I understand why, I’ll just go back to ignoring them.

And Finally – An error corrected… In all the time I’ve been doing these, I have never featured the Brazillian model, Gisele Bündchen. Don’t look too long or Tom Brady will kick your ass. Enjoy!
