Nate Johnstone Blog: Lakey Peak

So I have just arrived back in Bali, we have been over in Sumbawa surfing Lakey Peak for the past few days. Sumbawa is a island, about an hour flight from Denpasar. We flew into Bima, and had a 2 and a half hour drive till we reached our hotel Aman Gati, right in front of Lakey Peak… Paradise.

I arrived there in the afternoon to see Lakey Pipe and Lakey Peak about 3-4ft and pumping defiantly the first thing you want to see when you rock up at a place you have never been before. Everyone was frothing to get a wave in before dinner so we got our boards and headed out. We ended up surfing for about 4 hours, down the beach at a break called Nunga’s because the peak was a little crowded. We had an amazing surf out there with just my mates, one of the best surfs of the trip.

The next day was howling off shore all morning so we didn’t get a chance to get in the water until late arvo but the wind ended up dieing off and me a one other mate scored Lakey Pipe pumping to ourselves for about an hour. Sumbawa was defiantly the best surf trip we had in Bali, and I think i’ll be defiantly going back there in the future. Thanks Aman Gati cya next time…
