PRESS RELEASE:
PLA: PERMANENT LIGHT ARCHIVE
THE SKATEBOARD MAG
Irvine, California (August 18th, 2010) The PLA (The Permanent Light Archive) series is designed to showcase the photographic work of Analog team riders, artists and friends. This Hi-Summer season, Analog has partnered with our friends at The Skateboard Mag to curate the seventh PLA series. We assembled this four-piece exclusive tee collection featuring some of Skateboarding’s most talented and influential photographers.
These skate pioneers; Anthony Acosta, Atiba Jefferson, Dave Swift and Grant Brittain have altered the way we view skate photography today. With the many opportunities these photographers have to travel and view the world, we wanted to share their unique and different perspectives through their lenses.
“I shot this photo in Almendro, Nicaragua at the end of ’08. This small town had dirt roads, barely any electricity or running water. I saw this young kid walking around pointing his toy gun at everyone. Then he walked up to me and pointed at my face, so I pointed my “gun” back and shot at him.”
— Anthony Acosta
“Mike Carroll gave an impromptu jump ramp demo after the finals of a Pro street style contest in a Venice Beach parking lot, the crowd quickly dispersed and this was the aftermath circa 1992.”
— Dave Swift
“As a skate photographer I have spent countless hours lurking about in low-lying environs; dirty ditches and gutters where organic and man-made detritus transported by water and gravitational forces makes its way to the Pacific. Now and then a skater may ride by.” — Grant Brittain
“ I looked outside my window and saw smoke and helicopters. So I packed my trunk with my most valuable photos and hard drives and then went to the [Hollywood] sign and shot the chaos. It makes you really respect firefighters.” — Atiba Jefferson
“I can’t explain how important these photographers are within our industry. You’ve got three legends in Grant, Swift, and Atiba, and then there’s Anthony Acosta—one of the hottest up-an-coming photographers in all of skateboarding. These dudes are more on fire than the Miami Heat right now.”
— Michael Mihaly Publisher of The Skateboard MAG
The PLA tees are offered in a slim fit, combed ringspun cotton in three colors; true black, dark athletic heather and optic white and retail for $49.95 each. Analog PLA tees will hit stores in October.
