MEDIA RELEASE THE CAMERA CLUB LAUNCHES

Monday August 23rd, 2010

The Camera Club is a new community minded bar & gallery concept that’s dedicated to celebrating creativity through camera-based pursuits. The Camera Club is based within the Beach Road Hotel, Bondi Beach and is proudly supported by 42-Below. A VIP launch party is being held Thursday September-2, 2010.

The Camera Club’s photo gallery delivers quarterly group exhibitions that are powered by the idea of ‘six degrees of separation’ and presented under a zero percent commission.

Every 3-months a curator is engaged to create a group show concept. In addition to theming the show they also select a photographer to participate & exhibit. This second photographer supplies their works and then selects another photographer to exhibit and so the process continues until there is a total of 10 exhibiting photographers. The end result is 10 micro galleries each of which is connected via the group show theme and the exhibiting photographers via six degrees of separation.

The Camera Club also boasts a styling in-house bar & a wood fired pizzeria called Super Supreme. Extensions of each exhibition can be seen across the bar & pizzeria collateral from photo-inspired pizza boxes through guest photographer menus and exhibition inspired cocktails.

In keeping with the community-based concept the The Camera Club will further soon encompass a working photography studio, member library, vintage photo booth and camera related inspiration from the past, present and future.

Exhibition 1. ‘We all have TEENAGE FANTASIES’ launching Thursday September-2, 2010. She has a brown paper bag in one hand, her brown lace up boots are cross-legged on the table, the smell of her messed afternoon hair wafts through the air. Lips stained red with hours old lipstick, i can’s stop staring.”

‘We all have TEENAGE FANTASIES’ – Your imagination runs wild, as pure as your first thoughts. We all create an ideal world of one of the best times in our lives, YOUTH. We all have TEENAGE FANTASIES is 10 photographers visions of those moments. Carefree, the future is bright, detached from the mandatories of the modern day grind – 9 to 5.
