According to The Australian newspaper, the owner of the above classy title may soon also own Australian/New Zeland Snowboarding, Tracks and Waves. ACP Magazines, who own titles such as Picture, People and the classiest of all, People Platinum, have apparently made a bid for Emap Australia which is expected to sell for somewhere in the region of $100 million. Wow, so that’s how we get rich. All this time we’ve spent writing about snowboarding, skating and surfing when if we’d just published nude shots of random ladies and wrote stories about “booze, midgets, sex dolls and nudity” we would be millionaires by now. If the sale goes ahead, ACP magazines would own nearly 50% of the magazine industry in Australia and it is my understanding that it would probably be referred to the ACCC to review what effect that would have on the market. So anyway, I’m just going to don the ‘ol top hat and monocle, pick up the digital camera and see if I can get me some shots for my new magazine title – Random Naked Ladies That I’m Almost Sure Don’t Have STD’s (Tests pending).
