Wired put me onto this. This week, October 18th to be exact, is the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES. With it came Dunk Hunt, Excitebike and later that year, Super Mario Bros. Thus, following the collapse of Atari, came the renaissance of the modern day video game console.

Nintendo have a pretty sweet website up with a  video showing how Mario did over the years. I like to hope he’s doing better than the above video. Anyway, if you’re interested in reading more about how the NES came to be, the Wired story is a good starting point.
