Adio Sacks Team And Shifts Strategy

You might have heard that Adio shuttered their offices in Southern California and shifted to their parent company’s NYC offices as well as sacking their team last week. Jordan Hoffart and others had a bit to say about it on Twitter. I was waiting for a bit more info about what was happening before posting on it. Adio put out a press release today (below) saying that they are having a major shift in strategy focusing their sponsorships on younger, up and coming skaters and will be maintaining their core stores – something disputed by Hoffart in initial releases. It means that Chris Troy, Joey Brezinski, Jordan Hoffart, Ronnie Creager, Anthony Shultz, Moose, Nick Tucker, Elliot Sloan and Aldrin Garcia are available for hire now. Will be interesting to see what direction the brand, which was an absolute powerhouse in the late 90’s, takes from here.

Press Release:

The economic landscape is ever changing and Adio needs to protect its authentic action sports heritage to evolve with the times. To be able to continue producing authentic quality products and also offer aggressive marketing programs for strategic retail partners, Adio has elected to relocate its global headquarters to the parent company’s NYC office. The distribution strategy will still include core stores, specialty retailers and the family shoe channel.

While Adio is no longer sponsoring professional athletes, the company has reallocated its marketing resources to the next generation – young people who are passionate and actively involved in skateboarding, action sports and music who may not have the means. Adio is currently providing shoes for underprivileged kids through the Skateboarding Park Association of the United States of America and is involved in many programs to help aspiring musicians. Adio is primed to be a patron of newcomers in both industries.
