Peetu Piiroinen’s TTR Threepeat

Peetu Piiroinen’s has got US$50,000 and his third TTR championship trophy coming his way at the Burton US Open in March. The phenomenal Finn was unable to compete at the Oakley Arctic Challenge last weekend however after the points were distributed, the TTR mathematicians have worked out that it is impossible for anyone to beat him. ESPN says, “… rankings are determined by averaging the top seven TTR contest results in a season. The system is designed to award riders who compete in multiple disciplines throughout the year. Though a handful of high-level snowboarders like Iouri Podladchikov, Christian Haller and Seppe Smits compete in halfpipe, slopestyle and big air, only Piiroinen consistently podiums in all three… All of his wins have been 6Star wins — the highest level of competition on the TTR tour.” Check the full press release below and head over to Peetu’s Career Highlights page for more.

PRESS RELEASE

Burton Rider Peetu Piiroinen Wins 3rd TTR Title

BURLINGTON, VT  Burton congratulates team rider Peetu Piiroinen on today’s news from TTR that he has officially secured his third consecutive men’s title, a feat that no other snowboarder can claim. Peetu will get his $50,000 check from TTR and his third championship trophy at the Burton US Open on March 12, when the men’s and women’s Swatch TTR World Tour Champions will officially be crowned.

Because of Peetu’s impressive results this season, TTR officially announced that it was mathematically impossible for anyone to catch up to him, even with several weeks left on the tour. With the rare ability to dominate slopestyle, halfpipe and big air events, Peetu can now head to the US Open in two weeks with one of the sport’s biggest titles already in the bag.

Way to go Peetu!
