I don’t know what exactly to make of this… Roxy has been torn apart in the press over the last couple of days for a promo for an online promotion around the Roxy Pro in Biarritz. It features the below video. And while the only water in it is in the shower, it’s as visually pleasing as many other girls surf clips – see the game changing Leave A Message, what an intro! In other words, nothing new. Doesn’t make it right but you can understand why after this long of doing it without much in the way of commentary, they might have thought it was okay.

A lot of the outrage has centered on the fact that this is what it takes to make the sport financially viable. This is what brings an audience. I would be interested to know, and I am NOT suggesting that it should be like this, but if this was the price of a sustainable sport, would it be worth it? IE. What’s better – this and being viable, or ditching it all together till a better option comes along?
