Some legit surfing leins

I love surf clips shot in the sort of waves most of us do do most of our surfing in. Perfect Indo is great and all, but it’s cool to see good surfers in the average muck the rest of us are usually faced with. For that reason, I’m straight away (well, after the first 30 seconds of Julian mugging for the camera) into this.

We know Julian Wilson rips, but let’s take a moment to tip the hat to surfers for getting on the lein program. For the past year or two the stalefish has been the grab to master for the hot new crew. Stalefishes are tricky as hell in the surf* but they’re even trickier to make with style. Leins**, on the other hand, have style for days. Josh Kerr started throwing them down last year, but these efforts of young J-Dub’s, shot at home on the Sunny Coast recently, shows how good they can look even in small surf. Especially if you can make a full reverse.

*Actually, what would I know – I can’t do airs.

** If you can tell us who named the Lein air and why it’s called what it is (WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP – seriously, where’s the fun in that?), we’ll send you a prize. First correct answer in the comment box wins … something. I’ll see what Dave’s got in the office. I’m sure there’s a bunch of swag that needs a good home.
