Joel Parkinson Rings The Bell

Joel Parkinson rings the bell infront of the biggest biggest Rip Curl Pro crowd in 50 years of competition after scoring a perfect 10 on the last wave of the competition to end an incredibly intense final.

Joel finished on an 18.53/20 after his last wave landed him a perfect 10, Mick taking the little bell home with a 13.26/20.

Both Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson were in their best form, both having competed 3 times in the freezing and strenuous conditions. Joel got a great start with a 9 on his first wave, and then by the 25 minute mark, got a combo under his belt, leaving Mick on the back foot for the remaining 10 minutes of the final.

Mick fought back needing only an 8.7 to take the lead, but with seconds to spare, Joel was left with wave priority and with nothing to loose, showed just how good he really is sealing the deal with a perfect 10.. and the crowd went balistic.

As the surfers ran up the beach, the crowd mobbed towards the podium to see the famous ringing of the bell, for what has been one of the best competitions in Bells history.
