This weeks Port Phillip Leader cover was something for skaters to celebrate. It featured a huge photo of long time front-man for the skatepark and Billabong pro Renton Millar along with a story about the success of getting the park through council after a decade long fight. As we reported back here, the park was going ahead next to the Sk Kilda Marina – a small group of local residents have been very vocal in their opposition to the park and after approval was given, their irrational arguments have been screamed full volume into the comments section of the online version of the article. If you want a laugh, check it out over here. According to them, the expensive piece of Canadian maple you’re carrying clearly indicates you’re a criminal of the worst kind … with your crazy clothes and the hip hop music. Ahaha. I just want to give a massive congratulations to Renton and everyone involved in the fight to get the park approved. It’s going to mean a lot for the community into the future and I hope you’re all remembered for your efforts. Can’t wait for opening day!
