I am little slow on this but apparently it happened over the weekend how ever with all the coverage of grand finals it was pretty easy to overlook. Australian Commonwealth gold medalist Kenrick Monk “was hit by a car on the way to training” which in swimmer talk apparently translates to ‘fell off my skateboard.’ You can check a full article on the scandal at ESPN or any other news website if you want to cringe a little. A personal favourite quote of mine “He felt very embarrassed to say that he fell off a skateboard, which is something he felt only young kids could do.” I get it that this guy has a contract which states he isn’t allowed to skate but has he never seen any slam footage from Danny Way or Jake Brown? Well I guess with the IOC looking to fast track “roller sports” into the games maybe there is hope for him after swimming. But here’s a shout out to any one who has hurt yourself skateboarding the lied about it, for what ever reason.
