I found this neat article in Wired about how the Dew Tour has introduced cable cams into the pipe at its comps. As you can see from the video below, the cam is run down the centre of the pipe and can sometimes clearly capture the run – at night it seems a little sketchy. It has eliminated the need for the follow cam however I think you’ll agree that the best solution would be cutting between the two. The follow cam gives better scale to what the riders are doing than the high mounted cable cam.
The article quotes this as being the first time the cable cams have been used in snow sports. If we’re talking competitive snow sports then they may be right however anyone who’s seen an MDP film knows that they’ve been around snowboarding for a few years now. Check the full article here.
