Tony Hawk had a chat about a few things with TMZ recently and aside from Adam Miller’s board to board backflip he talks about the Olympics. He notes that the summer games are now in a position where they need skateboarding far more than it needs them, citing the success of snowboarding in the winter games which brought record TV viewers in Vancouver.

The IOC needs to come up with something to bring new, younger viewers in and skateboarding could be their easy fix. It’s in the mix with baseball/softball, karate, squash, wakeboarding and wushu. They are due to make their decision in September. Check a short run down of the conversation over here.
