DC Worth Half a Billion Dollars!

The rumors that VF have got their hands on one of my favorite shoe companies, DC, are hotting up. Transworld reports that Citi Group reiterated a buy recommendation on Quiksilver stating that they believed a deal was close. Quiksilver shares jumped considerably on the news however Citi Group worries that in selling DC, which provided Quik’s largest growth in the ’08 year, they might be losing their crown jewel. The most interesting news actually came in the comments under the article when a knowledgable reader under the name GB said “Stock is up 40% today. Buy while you can and make some dough. Market cap is at 300 million and they are buying DC alone for over 500 million. Hopefully they sell the whole thing as both Nike and VF are looking hard and making offers. The right offer hasn’t come in quite yet. It will either be a DC only offer for $500-600 million or an all cash offer for $7 per share for the entire company. Right now the stock is at $2 bucks.” So there you have it – who bought when I recommended it here? Neither did I… damnit!
