This seems insane, but also a damn good idea. An engineering firm, Arup, is proposing a wave pool in Docklands. Heated year round with variable wave size up to five feet and only a short walk from Spenser Street tram and train station – and it is predicted to cost around $8 million (which seems insanely cheap).
The project includes a beach and a boardwalk with a shopping strip (ideally for a surf store).
Right now, the firm needs a commercial backer for the project – either a developer or someone interested in operating the facility. If you know of someone that could do it, get in their ear. This could be awesome!
