Pop Magazine Gets Its C.A.B Membership!

asb_i28_cover

This is just a little post about something going on at Pop but it requires a little explanation first… because Pop is free, we rely on our advertisers support to keep going – their ads are what provides us with our income to print the damn thing (so if you enjoy the mag, make sure you’re buying tonnes of their gear!). The cost of advertising for all magazines is, in part, linked to the number of copies that you print – the more you print, the more you can charge – we used to print 10,000 each issue but we had so many stores missing out that from the next issue (out April 1st) we will be printing 20,000. Read below the cut for details on Pop’s circulation auditing and an article in ASB on us!

In the past it has been an accepted truth that most publishers will lie about their circulation so they can charge more for their advertising, at least in the surf, skate and snow industry anyway. We have never lied – most of the people we deal with are friends and we never felt right deceiving them. So, to make sure that everyone has confidence that we’re telling the truth, we’re going about getting our circulation independently audited by the Circulation Audit Bureaux. The first step is getting our membership which came through last month! This is kind of a big deal for us and Keith at Australian Surf Business was kind enough to run a little article about it in their current issue which you can check out below. Here’s hoping all the magazines get into the auditing thing cause it can only be good for the whole surf, skate and snow media!
