Okay, this has taken me a few weeks to get together but having just seen Nitro‘s new free DVD, One Track Mind, I wish I’d been on this earlier. I’m not one for overly glowing reviews and the film does have a few faults but overall, this is a pretty amazing film. Having happened pre MFM and Nitro parting ways, the film features a fair bit of him along with Eero, Andreas, Etienne and loads more. The film is full of massive hits built with the camera angles and lighting in mind, some of them are quite similar to something you would expect out of Mack Dawg – my suspicions were confirmed when I saw Brad Kramer‘s name in the thanks list. But along with his footage and the footage from the guys at isen seven, Blank Paper and Absinthe they have created a film which I can barely believe that they are giving away free. My favorite shots in the film are in the first 5 minutes when they have filmed a kicker, right on sunset with a photographer working in the foreground. The colours, flashes and slow motion are amazing. The whole thing is set to a slightly old school rock sound track – not like Rolling Stones, more like a slower Frenzal Rhomb recorded on a 4 track in a garage – very Euro. I only have two main criticisms… number one is the changing fonts and rider logos. I know that they’re linking into the board graphics but they’re a little distracting. Number two complaint is the slowing down of footage that shouldn’t be slowed down – I’m no camera geek but I’m pretty sure it has to do with filming at 25 frames a second then slowing the footage. Things get a bit jumpy and they do it on several shots towards the end of the film. Still, they’re giving it away free, it contains some amazing riding and is a well put together film… what am I bitching about? I’m working to get some copies to send out to crew, otherwise hit up your local stores and hassle them for a copy.
