Remember when I was telling you about Ben Dwyer and how he was trying to find a copy of POP in Western Australia? Well, read on to find out how this one ended up.
Last December Ben emailed us asking where he could find a copy of POP in WA. You can read more about it here, but basically he went to the Quiksilver store in Perth because it was (it isn’t now) listed on our circulation map. The staff there claimed they had never heard of the magazine, it was only after we had given Ben the TNT tracking number showing that a box had been sent to the store, that Ben finally got the shop monkeys to give him a copy after his second visit.
I emailed a contact at Quiksilver telling him about all the trouble a customer had gone too to get a copy of POP from their store (they advertise with us, so it makes sense that you should be able to get POP at their stores) and thought maybe Quiksilver could hook up Ben with a little you know, something, you know, for the effort. After two emails I hadn’t even got a reply. It seems the little guy doesn’t matter anymore. That is, until I told the story to the brand manager over at Anon Optics.
It seems that Anon care about the little guy. So much so, that even though they had nothing to do with Ben and his quest, they felt that no good deed should go unrewarded. So they gave us a brand new pair of goggles to send over with Ben’s loot. We chucked in a few DVD’s and the new issue and sent them across.
On Saturday, I got this photo in my inbox. To the guys at Anon, that grin is for you. To all you readers out there, this other photo Ben sent is for you.
A big thanks goes to Anon for the goggles and Ben for being so rad.
