American Apparel Settles With Woody Allen

picture-31

American Apparel CEO, Dov Charney, struck an out of court settlement with Woody Allen yesterday. The dispute was over the use of Allen’s image in an American Apparel ad series. American Apparel did not gain rights for the use of his image and claimed that the advertising was not for commercial gain but to encourage ‘societal discussion’. Allen got US$5 million in the settlement – aparently the highest amount ever awareded in a case of this kind in New York. Check more details on the story here.
